About Us

The Zebra Foundation is a California based 501C(3) non-profit corporation founded in 1996.
We are governed by a five-member Board of Directors, composed of women currently working in women's reproductive health professions.

Kathleen K. Martin, President
Ms. Martin is at the forefront in developing all-latex ZEBRAS. Ms. Martin recruits the Program's technical advisors, and oversees and coordinates all program activities. Since 1997 Ms. Martin has participated in several world HIV/AIDS conferences. Within the United States and in many African countries, Ms. Martin has conducted numerous focus groups with target populations of single and married women, adolescent girls, commercial sex workers, and young men to review all options currently available for the prevention of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. Ms. Martin is a leading advocate for HIV/STD prevention options controlled by women.

Wil P. Stevens, Jr.
Advisor to Zebra Foundation, Inc. He has worked closely with Ms. Martin on the overall Zebra Woman's Condom Program strategy, product and technology transfer for ZEBRAS. A Harvard MBA, Mr. Stevens has international experience in technology transfer in Africa and Europe including business development and management systems consultancy.

Arnold Tompkins
Advisor to Zebra Foundation, Inc. An attorney, Mr. Tompkins has many years of service to government - in multiple levels of diverse strategic decision-making positions having served under two Presidents of the United States and the Governor of Ohio. He works closely with the Foundation in facilitating relationships with governmental agencies with particular emphasis on health care.

Foley & Lardner
The Foundation's Washington, D.C. based legal counsel. The firm provides international intellectual property counsel and technology transfer documentation support.

Jokela Arts Studio
Jokela Arts Studio designs and supports all the Foundation's communication media including website, newsletters, brochures and electronic databased program status updates.

Milestones:

• Coordinated the design and development of ZEBRAS, the all-latex women's panty condom.

• Developed the turnkey production manufacture of ZEBRAS.

•Executed Letter of Intent with the Ugandan Ministry of Health to initiate the Model Program to introduce and promote ZEBRAS into their population.

•Affiliations established with leading researchers, institutions, and public agencies, seeking to develop a new barrier method for women.
